This automatic gearbox belongs to my 2004 Mondeo TDCI Estate but most other automatic cars could have same fault, unable to move shift out of park and have very similar parts. The shift lever will only be able to move when an electrical solenoid valve has 12 volts on it to unlock the lever.
I don't get the 'cruise control on stand-by' message anymore, and pressing the + or - button afterwards doesn't make any difference.. I previously had the same problem, but sorted it out by holding down 'on' and'. set' buttons' . But that doesn't seem lo make any difference, this time. I'm not suspecting a faulty (brake or clutch ) switch, as I have a 58 plate Mk4 Mondeo which has (had) the intermittent cruise problem. After about 20 minutes cruising it would drop out for no reason and refuse to reset. Many people are suggesting that the buttons are to blame but I do not think this is the case. I stripped down the steering wheel to check the switches. Mint condition.

The remote keyless system and the central locking system in Mondeo require the 12 volt battery to be in healthy state to function properly. You can disable the internal monitoring there should be a switch on the B pillar by the drivers door. You need to push it just before you get out an lock the car. To test the door lock modules, sit in the car and use the centrl locking button on the drivers door to lock the car. Any doors with iffy door modules will lock and then unlock again. C.
